Xiangming Chen is the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of Global Urban Studies and Sociology at Trinity College, Connecticut, the United States. Chen is also a distinguished guest professor at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, and Research Fellow at Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) in Bandung, Indonesia. Chen is a comparative scholar of cities and their dwellers in all their local attributes and conditions, and their global dimensions and interconnections. He has published extensively on globalisation and urbanisation, with recent research focus on China’s role in shaping global urbanisation and city-making through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
