Farah Mursyieda is a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate in the Department of Government and Civilizational Studies at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She brings a robust legal background to her academic work, holding a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from Universiti Malaya (UM)and an LLB from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), and having previously practiced as a legal practitioner. Her primary research interests lie at the intersection of digital politics, human rights, and marginalised communities, with a specific focus on hate speech and freedom of expression. Farah was recently awarded Best Presenter at the Gender Outlook Forum (GOF) for her paper, "Does My Opinion Not Matter Because I’m Female?”. It analysed the impacts of gendered hate speech on online political discourse.
