Arif Syazwan is a geographer by training from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and is currently an MBA/MSc candidate under the ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management, a dual-degree program funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted by the ASEAN University Network (AUN), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the University of Agder (UiA).
